Edamame: A Superfood to Improve Your Health

Edamame beans, a popular appetiser in Japanese eateries, are high in nutrients and have disease-fighting properties.

They are one of the most nutrient-dense foods available.

One cup of edamame offers just 180 calories but 8 grammes of fibre and 17 grammes of protein to keep you full.

Gluten-free and packed in heart-healthy fatty acids, these small green powerhouses are a must-try.

Health Benefits:

Inflammation is reduced. If you don't like fish but still want to get omega-3 fatty acids from natural sources, edamame is a good option.

Stops cancer from spreading. Phytoestrogens found in edamame and soy products function as a blocker to real oestrogen absorption in the body.

It guards against stroke. Edamame is high in folate, a mineral that has been associated to decreased homocysteine levels and hence reduced cardiovascular disease.

Decreases the likelihood of dementia and mortality. Low levels of folate,  known as vitamin B9, in the blood have been linked to an increased risk of dementia and mortality, according to new study.

Helps you lose weight. Edamame is high in fibre, making you feel fuller for longer. Fiber also delays the absorption of nutrients in the body, reducing the risk of a blood sugar or insulin increase.
