Researchers from Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China, examined data on coffee habits and health from over 171,000 UK citizens who did not have cancer or heart disease.

Previously, evidence revealed that coffee consumers live longer lives; the Chinese researchers wanted to see if this held true even when participants added sugar to their regular beverage.
They discovered that those who drank unsweetened coffee on a regular basis were 16-21 percent less likely to die throughout the study than those who did not drink coffee.

According to the results, study participants who drank one to four cups of mildly sweetened coffee each day were 29-31 percent less likely to die throughout the study.
