The NBA has announced the early entry candidates for the 2022 NBA Draft.

The NBA announced today that 283 players have declared as early entry candidates for the NBA Draft 2022 presented by State Farm, including 247 collegiate players and 36 overseas players.

Players that applied for early entry have until 5 p.m. ET on Monday, June 13 to withdraw their names from consideration for the Draft.

Under NCAA rules, in order to retain college basketball eligibility, college players who have entered NBA Draft 2022 must withdraw by Wednesday, June 1.

283 athletes have filed as early entry candidates for the NBA draught, according to a press statement from the league. 247 are early entrants from colleges, while 36 are overseas early entrants.

These are significant numbers, but they pale in comparison to the 353 early entrants who declared for the draught a year ago.

Due to coronavirus , the NCAA awarded athletes an extra year of eligibility beginning in 2021, forcing seniors to choose between finishing their final year of college or declaring for the draught as a "early" entry.

Because of the infusion of seniors entering the pool, the NCAA's eligibility standards were changed, which boosted the number of overall early entrants.

However, it appears that the pool will remain exceedingly congested, with the number of early entrants almost guaranteed to exceed 58, the number of selection picks.
