This college is paying students $75 to skip Spring Break.
As spring breakers swarm to beaches in Florida and Texas, health experts are once again warning all Americans to stay home.
A CDC representative told The Washington Post that people shouldn't travel right now and should put off spring break trips until 2022.
The University of California, Davis is giving $75 grants to college students who choose to stay on campus during spring break.
UC Davis teamed with Healthy Davis Together to give the award, which may be redeemed for supplies in four categories — Get Active, Get Artsy, Home Improvement, and Let's Stay In.
After a week, he told everyone on campus, "The response was so great that we increased the number of grants from 500 to 750 and now at least 2,000!"
"The idea behind this was to give students a good reason to follow public health recommendations."
He also said that one-third of the people who got the grants decided to spend their $75 on home improvements.
"I can't wait to hear what these students and the other grant winners are up to," he said.
