On Saturday night, William Byron won his second Cup Series race of 2022 in Martinsville.

Byron started second to teammate Chase Elliott, but passed him on pit road between the second and third stages.

Byron then led for the remainder of the race, handily beating Austin Dillon and Joey Logano on a green-white-checker restart.

The race saw just two non-stage cautions. With less than 100 laps to go, Denny Hamlin's vehicle stopped, while Todd Gilliland bounced off the wall and kept running with less than 10 laps to go.

No one else fell. Nobody whirled. That's rare in Martinsville. Thankfully, this race was just 400 laps instead of 500 like last year.

Neither are green-flag pit stops. Since there were no cautions, it happened in the final stage. Byron pitted and regained the lead 17 laps later.

Byron won his first race of the season at Atlanta, becoming the first driver to do so in 2022. The first seven races of the 2022 season saw seven victories as teams learned the new vehicle introduced by NASCAR.
